At the same time as the Flemish Classics, a sportswear collection campaign will start on Saturday, March 1st, organized by Kringwinkel and Sport Vlaanderen. Whether you're a professional cyclist, an amateur, or a visitor at the start of Omloop het Nieuwsblad in Ghent, everyone is welcome to drop off sportswear that deserves a second life in a collection box.

Under the slogan "Give your sportswear a second round" Kringwinkel and sixteen local governments are collecting sportswear and equipment to give them a new life in Kringwinkel's sports section. Sportswear can be expensive, and everyone knows that children tend to grow every season. Meanwhile, many people have unused sportswear in their closets or even throw it away while it’s still in good condition. Giving reusable items a second life can help many people while also having a positive ecological impact. By collecting and reselling sportswear at affordable prices, we help keep sports accessible to everyone.

"At Kringwinkel, we believe that everyone should have the opportunity to participate, whether in social life or in sports. Buying proper sportswear and equipment should not be a barrier to being active and enjoying sports," says Linde Brewaeys, communications coordinator at Kringwinkel. "We highly value our partnership with Sport Vlaanderen and local governments because it allows us to collect directly from sports clubs and provide them with a service for sorting and selling the clothing. That’s our expertise."

Flanders Classics wants to give this initiative by Sport Vlaanderen and Kringwinkel a platform during the team presentation of Omloop Het Nieuwsblad at 't Kuipke in Ghent. Specifically, two collection points will be set up: the first on the start podium at 't Kuipke, where riders can drop off their old clothing. The audience will also be encouraged to participate, with an additional collection point in the fan zone at the Floraliënhal.

"We are very happy to support this project at the start of the new cycling season," says Tomas Van Den Spiegel, CEO of Flanders Classics. "During Omloop het Nieuwsblad on March 1st, both teams and fans can donate their sportswear to Kringwinkel at 't Kuipke. We fully support this initiative, as it gives everyone the chance to enjoy our wonderful sport.
